School of Planning, Design and Construction

Sarah Williamson is a Teaching Specialist in the Construction Management Program of the School of Planning, Design, and Construction at Michigan State University. Before coming to MSU, Sarah was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Construction Management program at Wentworth Institute of Technology. There, she taught subjects including but not limited to introduction to the built environment, plan reading, building information modeling, estimating, building systems labs, roofing principles, construction project management, construction project scheduling, construction stakeholder management, and BSCM capstone.

Before teaching at Wentworth, she earned her BS in Construction Management from Wentworth and her MS in Project Management from Northeastern University. She also worked in the construction industry on commercial and government ground-up, renovation, and tenant improvement projects ranging from $15 million to $142 million. Primarily working on job sites as a project engineer, she also spent time working in estimating and preconstruction.

Sarah is a certified ACCE Teaching and Learning Practitioner. She also holds her OSHA 30 and is a proud lifetime member and past president (Omicron IV Chapter) of Sigma Lambda Chi International Construction Honor Society. She published Reframing Communication with Stakeholders in Construction Projects Through Integrative Pedagogical Approaches [Poster] at the Academic Excellence Showcase at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. Her pedagogical focus includes incorporating task-based learning, industry examples, and peer-to-peer learning for an engaged classroom environment.
