Jingyi Ge is a second-year Ph.D. student in the School of Planning, Design and Construction (SPDC) at Michigan State University. She holds a Master’s degree in Interior and Spatial Design from Politecnico di Milano and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design from Northeast Forestry University. Her research interests lie at the intersection of interior and environmental design, environmental psychology, and human-centered design, with a particular focus on healing environments, and the psychological and physiological impacts of the built environment. Her current research explores how spatial and interior design characteristics can influence attention, spatial perception, perceived control, stress, and well-being, with an emphasis on vulnerable populations and immersive virtual reality (VR) environments. Her ongoing scholarly projects include research on trauma-informed design principles, physiological measurement in environmental design research, and ceiling design and attention in learning environments.
