Credit Transfer Requests

MSU students may request that up to nine graduate level credits be transferred to a graduate program.

Please note the criteria for transfer credits:

  • Transfer credits must have been completed no earlier than three years prior to the date of matriculation into the master’s degree program. 
  • Only courses in which the student received at least a 3.0 grade, or its equivalent, will be considered for transfer credits.  
  • The transfer can only be requested after admission into the program and acceptance of the admission offer.
  • Students should talk to their advisor to discuss any previous courses taken and decide which courses would be most appropriate to request for transfer. 
  • In addition, the department Chairperson and the Registrar’s office must grant approval.
