Strength Training Basics - Barbell Lunge
March 10, 2026
View all Strength Training Basics VideosFor the barbell lunge, we're going to start with a barbell across our back, similar position to what we would do with a barbell squat. Our feet should be shoulder width apart. We're going to step out with one foot two to three feet in front of you, which is going to differ between each person. Bend at the knees and squat straight down, keeping your back straight and your chest up. Your back knee does not need to touch the ground during this exercise. You can alternate feet as seen here, or you can complete all of your repetitions with one foot before switching to the other side.
