4-H Online Guide: Adding clubs/projects to an approved profile; secondary county clubs
How to Add an Additional Club to an Approved Member’s Profile in 4‑H Online
Once a youth member profile has been approved in 4‑H Online, there are times when they may need to join an additional club—either within your county or in a different county. This guide walks you through the correct steps to add that additional club and ensure the member is fully set up with the required project information.
1. Open the Member Profile
- In the left navigation menu, select Member Search.
- Filter as needed to locate the appropriate member.
- Click Search, then open the member’s profile.
2. Navigate to the Club Section
- In the member’s left‑side menu, click Clubs.
- You will see two options: Edit and Add.
- Although Add might seem like the intuitive choice, using it requires extra steps later in the approval queue.
- To immediately grant the member access to the new club without re‑approval, use Edit.
3. Add the New Club Through “Select Units”
- Click Edit.
- Scroll down and select Select Units.
- From here, you may:
- Choose a club within your county, or
- Filter by a different county and select a club there.
- Click Add next to the desired club, then click Save.
When to Use the General 4‑H Experience Club
If another county’s program coordinator needs access to this member’s profile (for example, if the member participates cross‑county in an event), add the member to that county’s General 4‑H Experience Club. Otherwise, add them directly to the specific club they need.
4. Add a Required Project for the New Club
After adding the club, the member will not appear on that club’s roster until a project is assigned.
To add the project:
- In the left menu, click Projects.
- Click Edit.
- Select Select Projects.
- Sort or filter for the club you just added.
- Choose the appropriate project area.
- For the General 4‑H Experience Club, the Introductory 4-H Projects project is often recommended.
- Click Select, then Add, and close the window.
Important Note: “Adding a Second County”
Some staff refer to adding a second county to a member's profile—but this isn’t technically possible.
What actually happens is that you add a club from another county, which functions as the multi‑county connection.

In this guide, we will walk through how to add additional clubs to a member's profile when the member has already been approved. To access the member you are looking for, on the left, open the member search menu. And for the sake of this training, I have filtered for the training county so that we do not expose member data. Then search. and we are going to use this member profile and open it. And then you will come over on the left menu. You're going to open the club section. And then there is an edit button and an add button. While the add button seemed intuitive, adding the club this way then requires you to go into your approval section and approve the club request. So if you already know that you are going to let this kid join this other club, use the Edit button. And then you are going to come down to Select Units and click that. And here's where you can add a club that's also from a different county. So you could use your county and then click Add next to the appropriate club, or on the county list, filter for a different club or a different county, and then find a club within that county. If you are in a scenario where the program coordinator in another county needs to be able to see this member's profile, add them to the general 4-H experience club. Otherwise, if there is a specific club they would like to be added to, pick that club. I will be adding them to this general experience club for this training. You click Add and then Save. However, this student or this member will not yet show up because there is not a project associated with the club in this county. Every time you add a club to a member's profile, you must come down and add an associated project. So click on Projects on the left, and then click the Edit button, and then click Select Projects. Sort for the club the member was just added to, and then select the appropriate project area. For general experiences, I like to add them to the independent learning project. introductory for each project. Select and then add and then you can close that window. While some staff speak of adding a second county to a profile, that isn't actually something that is possible. It is done by adding a club from that county.
