Leaves

Leaves are rolled in the bud.  They are flat with a gray-green to bluish green color.   This grass has above-ground creeping stems with a prostrate growth habit.

Flowers and Fruit

Flower stems usually have three to seven spikes with tiny, pink-to-purple flowers.  Flattened spikelets are in two rows on one side of the spike.  Each spikelet produces 1 seed.  Flowers are present in July and August.  

Reproduction

Primarily by stolons and rhizomes.  May also spread by seed.
