Linda Riley
Linda joined the Mayhew Food Sensory Lab in August 2025 as a Research Assistant I and Lab Manager in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. She holds a B.Eng. in Agri-Food Engineering and Business with a specialization in Food Production. During her studies, she completed her bachelor’s thesis, “Physiochemical Characterization and Sensory Evaluation of Broccoli Byproducts: Effects of Processing,” in collaboration with the German Institute for Food Technology (DIL e.V.). Prior to joining the Mayhew Lab, Linda worked at FoodSense, a sensory research center at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences in Germany, where she gained hands-on experience in consumer testing and sensory evaluation of food products.
Core Responsibilities
- Sensory studies (participant recruitment, sample prep, online surveys, scheduling, data collection, and reporting)
- Lab management (inventory, equipment, safety compliance, cleanliness, organization)
- Train and supervise undergraduate research
- Assist with study design and literature research
- Client support (report writing and presentations)
- Ensure compliance with IRB-approved protocols
