PhD Candidate Lexi Heger defends her thesis:
Dept of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences -
"Another day, another spore to trap: advancing molecular detection, aerobiology, and genetic resistance discovery to Plasmopara viticola and other grapevine pathogens:"
As a candidate for PhD, Lexi Heger presents data from her years' long project, in which she combines molecular diagnostics, airborne inoculum monitoring, and genome-wide association analyses to improve detection of downy mildew, botrytis bunch rot, and powdery mildew, while uncovering environmentally responsive genetic resistance loci in grapevine. Collectively, her work advances tools for pathogen monitoring and provides new insights to support future disease management and breeding strategies. See abstract here
