Glassen Foundation launches $50,000 matching challenge to strengthen Michigan 4-H Shooting Sports

Donors who make a gift to the Michigan 4-H Shooting Sports Program can now double their impact through a new $50,000 matching challenge from the Hal and Jean Glassen Memorial Foundation.
The challenge will grow the Hal and Jean Glassen 4-H Shooting Sports Endowment at the Michigan 4-H Foundation, which provides permanent support for Michigan 4-H Shooting Sports. Every dollar donated to the fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar, with up to $10,000 in matching funds available annually over the next five years.
Tom Huggler, president of the Glassen Foundation, said the matching challenge reflects the Glassen Foundation’s commitment to both youth development and Michigan's outdoor traditions.
“We established this match opportunity because we believe Michigan 4-H Shooting Sports changes lives. The endowment ensures that today’s investments will continue supporting youth, volunteers and educational opportunities long into the future. We invite fellow sportsmen and women, outdoor enthusiasts, conservation partners, and 4-H supporters to join us in growing that legacy.”
Michigan 4-H Shooting Sports provides youth with hands-on experiences that promote safety, responsibility, leadership, decision-making, teamwork and conservation stewardship through disciplines such as archery, rifle, shotgun, muzzleloading, hunting and wildlife education, and outdoor skills. Through these experiences, young people build the confidence, discipline and resilience needed to become Beyond Ready for whatever comes next.
The program is supported in part by earnings from the Hal and Jean Glassen 4-H Shooting Sports Endowment, which was created in 2020. Gifts to the endowment will help grow this fund to ensure future generations continue to benefit from high-quality shooting sports education, trained volunteers and outdoor learning experiences.
