NURSERY SALES

2027 Hiring: 2 positions | Starting Pay: $20-$25/hour
Christensens Plant and Hardscape Center is hiring two Nursery Sales team members for 2027. This is a
customer-facing role in a busy wholesale nursery serving landscape contractors and other professional
customers. The right person combines plant knowledge, strong communication, and a genuine interest in
helping customers solve problems.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Work directly with landscape contractors and professional customers
• Help customers select trees, shrubs, perennials, and related products
• Answer plant, availability, and basic installation questions
• Write and process orders; check inventory and locate material
• Communicate by phone, email, text, and in person
• Coordinate with yard staff on order pulling and loading
• Recommend substitutions when requested material is unavailable
• Help solve plant-selection and site-condition problems
• Maintain strong working knowledge of current inventory and new varieties
• Follow orders from initial conversation through pickup or delivery
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We want someone who combines plant knowledge with personality. Strong candidates listen well, ask good
questions, communicate clearly, stay organized during busy periods, and treat customers like people they
know.
• Strong customer-service ability
• Comfortable speaking with contractors and professional customers
• Basic plant knowledge or the ability to learn quickly
• Comfortable using a computer, email, phone, and text
• Reliable, organized, and able to handle multiple customers and orders
• Willing to spend time outside in the nursery, not hide behind the counter
EXPERIENCE WE LIKE
• Wholesale nursery or garden-center sales
• Landscape design, installation, estimating, or account management
• Horticulture, nursery production, or arboriculture
• Woody plant identification and plant-health knowledge
• Hardscape, irrigation, or plan-reading experience
• Existing contractor relationships or bilingual ability
HOW WE WORK
Treat customers like people you know. If something is unavailable or a problem comes up, do not make it the
customer's problem. Find the solution. We can train our inventory, POS system, yard layout, pricing,
vendors, and internal procedures. We cannot manufacture personality, curiosity, or work ethic.
GROWTH OPPORTUNITY
For the right people, this is not intended to be a dead-end sales job. Employees can grow into experienced
sales roles, account responsibility, leadership, and larger operational positions. By the end of the first
season, we want customers asking for you by name.
